(PRAYER, ANSWER, CONFIRMATION)

Eleazar, Abraham’s chief steward was asked to go look for a wife for Isaac (Abraham’s son). In the course of the journey he prayed to the Lord for specific signs that he would want to see to know who the right woman would be. Let’s take a look at his prayer

1. PRAYER
“Then he said, “O Lord God of my master Abraham, please give me success this day, and show kindness to my master Abraham. Behold, here I stand by the well of water, and the daughters of the men of the city are coming out to draw water. Now let it be that the young woman to whom I say, ‘Please let down your pitcher that I may drink,’ and she says, ‘Drink, and I will also give your camels a drink’—let her be the one You have appointed for Your servant Isaac. And by this I will know that You have shown kindness to my master.””
‭‭Genesis‬ ‭24‬:‭12‬-‭14‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

One thing we can learn from his prayer is that he was specific about the signs he wanted to see. Many times in prayer we only tell the Lord what we want, we only speak of the end result we desire instead of signs or heralds of it. Beloved when we pray, we need to understand that the Lord is more of a father than just a deity and thus we should freely express ourselves to Him.
Now the Bible says he received the answer to his prayers.

2. ANSWER
“And it happened, before he had finished speaking, that behold, Rebekah, who was born to Bethuel, son of Milcah, the wife of Nahor, Abraham’s brother, came out with her pitcher on her shoulder. So she said, “Drink, my Lord.” Then she quickly let her pitcher down to her hand, and gave him a drink. And when she had finished giving him a drink, she said, “I will draw water for your camels also, until they have finished drinking.” Then she quickly emptied her pitcher into the trough, ran back to the well to draw water, and drew for all his camels.”
‭‭Genesis‬ ‭24‬:‭15‬, ‭18‬-‭20‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

Here we learn that indeed we serve the prayer answering God. Eleazar had received the exact response from the Lord but he exhibited something many of us need to learn from. Many times when we pray and see what looks like what we prayed for we are quick to assume it is from the Lord. Many people especially in relationships have become disappointed in God because to them God brought that person who just left them. And it is often because they probably showed up in the course of prayers.
Eleazar had every reason to know that Rebecca was the right woman he had been praying to find for Isaac because he had seen all the signs he asked from the Lord but he did something strange to confirm. This is what we often lack and thereby rush
Let’s go back to the Bible and find out about the confirmation.

3. CONFIRMATION
Beloved, the Holy Bible says faith comes by hearing and hearing the word of God. Confirming what the Lord has said is very vital because many times what looks like the answer may be presented to you.
This is what Eleazar did upon all the signs he had seen.

“And the man, wondering at her, remained silent so as to know whether the Lord had made his journey prosperous or not.”
‭‭Genesis‬ ‭24‬:‭21‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

Upon all the signs he had seen about Rebecca, the man was studying her carefully. Bible says he kept looking at her, silently.
Many mistakes people make is that yes they study their partners but are quick to let them know what they realized about them and many times when you do that you make the person act(pretend) towards you instead of being them.

When you find something about the person that you may not like don’t be quick to let them know. Study them some more, it could either be a mistake or a behavior and you will find out if you’d give it some time.

The Bible says He remained silent and kept looking at her not just admiring her beauty but discerning her.
Listen don’t be quick to assume a person may be bad or good just by their first impressions, you need to carefully discern them.
And finally the Bible says he did that to know whether the Lord had made his journey prosperous or not.

Abraham’s servant wanted to make sure this is truly from the Lord. Sometimes the person may appear just like you prayed for but may not actually be and there could people who may appear as bad or aggressive but may actually be who you need to be with. It’s all about PRAYER, ANSWER and CONFIRMATION.

When you take your time and seek God, though there may be storms but Jesus will always call it peace.
Before you say I do remember PRAYER,ANSWER and CONFIRMATION and it doesn’t have to take 50 years 😂 to know. You will just know !

Please go backtothebible and read Genesis 24
